BACKSTAGE at EMILIO DE LA MORENA, LFW AW12
LONDON FASHION WEEK - FEBRUARY 2012
Backstage at Emilio De La Morena AW12 the MAKE UP was by HIROMI UEDA @ Julian Watson Agency using MAC Cosmetics. Her inspiration comes from 50’s iconic actresses like Grace Kelly, but it is s a very natural and modern look: Hiromi uses MAC Sculpting Cream underneath the cheeckbone, and then it is all about accentuating the eyebrows using “Fling Lingering” mixed with a bit of “Charcoal Black “eyeshadow colour, there is NO Mascara, it is all about the eyebrows! Bushy!!!!

Then add just a bit of pigment on the eyelids, natural lip balm and a tiny bit of concealer and pigment around the lips to make them look a bit smaller. All the MAC Cosmetics product info are on the Emilio De La Morena AW12 Make-up card below:

THE HAIR was by CHI WONG @ Julian Watson Agency using Wella SP head spray “Perfect Hold” and Wella SP “Elegant Shape”. The look is also 50’s inspired with a modern take as Chi says the curls need to be very soft and organic because the look it is not too “done up” . You can do it yourself following some simple steps: apply some Wella SP hair moisturiser on clean softly washed hair and then separate 2 inches sections and create some curls using tongs, “messy” tongs: leaving the ends out.

Then apply some Wella SP polisher through the ends and bring the look down, the curls need to look soft and natural, not too full on!

TA-DAA!

After hair and make up everybody is busy getting the clothes ready…!

NOW let’s have a close look at the FASHION: here’s LOOK 1 from the board…Quite dramatic thanks to a wool “mantilla”. It is nice to see Emilio drawing inspiration from his own roots, designing a collection that is strongly influenced by Spanish historic traditional dress.

EMILIO ADDING THE WOOL “MANTILLA” to LOOK 1

…AND TO ITS CREAM TWIN, LOOK 2:
Take a great tailored coat …

….Add a girly detail like this quirky patent leather headband by London-based milliner J. Smith Esquire…

and the cream wool “mantilla”…

…accentuate the waistline with a belt…

VOILA’! A modern Madonna is born!

I love the rouched leather hems on these 50’s inspired wool pencil skirts:

…and the modern take on the pencil dresses…to die for!

Emilio experimented with rouched leather details and leather “knots”, both Leitmotifs of the collection.
Check out the front of this dress:

Patent leather knots are to be found on many of the looks:

…Pony skin knots on this floor lenght wool dress…

…and even on the shoes:

A photograph of a Spanish forest (taken by the designer himself) was manipulated into a graphic print and transferred onto these colourful faux leather tops and trousers

which were themed with gorgeous and girly knitwear

The colour palette goes from dark to pastel shades: black, forest green, oxblood, Bordeaux, petrol blue with ivory, spearmint and pale pink.
For the evening, my favourite look was this green dress (and rumor says singer Jennifer Lopez has her eye on it too!)

BRAVO EMILIO!!!!! We ♥ U!
